Jim Emerman, Vice President
Civic Ventures and Director, The Purpose Prize
Jim Emerman is Vice President of Civic Ventures, a San-Francisco
based think tank and program incubator focused on how society can
benefit from the passion and experience of people who are in the
second half of life. Since joining the organization in 2005, he
has directed The Purpose Prize, a program offering $100,000 prizes
for social innovators over the age of 60. Prior to joining Civic
Ventures, Emerman was Chief Operating Officer for the American Society
on Aging, a national association of professions working in the field
of aging.
Susan Hoffman, Director
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, UC Berkeley
Susan Hoffman writes screenplays, poems, short stories, food reviews,
travel articles, film criticism and political commentaries. Her
work has appeared in small press and mainstream publications as
well as on-screen. For many years, Susan ran a performing arts venue
at Fort Mason Center and represented arts organizations in Sacramento
and Washington as the state's arts advocate. She was the founding
director of OLLI at SF State and now directs OLLI @ Berkeley.
